Canterbury

A really old fashioned ground which has as much chance of becoming a test venue as my back garden. This is probably why it is a cute ground with much atmosphere. You will see a curious collection of stands and scoreboxes. The famous old tree has little prominence other than to emphasise how small the boundary has become on that side. In my opinion this ground has to be bracketed with Hove, Grace road and Derby as the old grounds. Do we want all grounds to be new and perfect like Hampshire's Rosebowl? One question though. Is it necessary and indeed financially prudent to have seemingly one steward per spectator? Perhaps there were a series of secret riots there that have been hidden from both history and me!
